Jillian Rattray

Walking alongside people and offering a place to talk through distressing feelings, thoughts or circumstances is Jillian’s emphasis.  There may be things you want to say but don’t yet have a safe place to share. Each person’s needs and preferences guide the direction within a session.

Growth and healing have been experienced by Jillian in the counselling room, and she knows what it feels like to sit with a counsellor in an unfamiliar place.  Helping people develop clarity and their sense of wellbeing is important.  Jillian draws on experiential ways to help address an individual’s concerns within a therapeutic environment. Trauma informed and recovery-oriented care underpin her approach; this recognises each person’s story is important and each person is unique.

Recent roles have involved working with women in crisis, and creative therapy work with people from Culturally and Racially Marginalised backgrounds. This has helped Jillian value the importance of creativity, courage and connectedness in people’s lives. Previously, as an information professional, Jillian worked for many years to resource children, young people, parents, carers and professionals within healthcare settings.

Feel free to reach out to ask any questions. Fees are based on a sliding scale, with reduced amounts or concessions for students or people with financial concerns.
