Karen is currently working as a primary school counsellor (in Ryde). Before stepping into this counselling role, she worked as an adolescent and family counsellor, as a life skills educator at a women’s refuge, as a high school chaplain and in various pastoral / ministry positions in her community and church.
A creative person at heart she incorporates creative modalities and play therapies into a client-centred framework. Her aim is to meet the client at their point of need and offer alternate ways of self-expression because sometimes we just don’t ‘have the words’. Karen offers Art Therapy sessions, or alternatively uses art and other creative expressions in the counselling session
Karen is an accredited ‘Cool Kids’ facilitator (Macquarie University’s Cool Kids program). Cool Kids is a 10-session program that helps children and adolescents, with the support of their parents, deal with anxiety through a number of cognitive behaviour-based activities and strategies.
Karen works with children, adolescents and adults who seek counselling for support with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, stress, relationships, life transitions and challenges. Sessions can be held in person, online (video) or via phone.
Karen is a registered member of PACFA (Provisional Reg. 24840).
