Karen is currently working as a primary school counsellor (in Ryde) and an adolescent counsellor (in St Marys). Before stepping into these counselling roles she worked as a life skills educator at a women’s refuge, a high school chaplain and various pastoral / ministry positions in her community and church.
A creative person at heart she incorporates creative modalities and play therapies into a client centred framework. Her aim is to meet the client at their point of need and offer alternate ways of self-expression, because sometimes we just don’t ‘have the words’. She is currently studying a certificate in Art Therapy (CECAT) to further enhance creativity in the counselling process.
Karen is an accredited facilitator of Macquarie University’s Cool Kids program. Cool Kids is a 10 session program that helps children and adolescents, with support from their parents deal with anxiety through a number of cognitive behaviour based activities and strategies.
Karen works with children, adolescents and adults who seek counselling for support with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, stress, relationships, life transitions and challenges.
Karen is a registered member of PACFA (Provisional Reg. 24840).
