Supervision

What is professional supervision?

Everyone who is working in any form of helping profession, is strongly encouraged to engage in regular professional supervision with an accredited supervisor and many professional associations will require it of their members. Supervision is central to the health and wellbeing of counsellors, chaplains, pastors, pastoral care workers, community service workers, case managers, social workers, psychologists, and all other human services professionals. Professional supervision is a critical self-care strategy as well as a fundamental element of professional development, professional standards, and professional practice in the workplace.

During supervision, the supervisee presents their work with clients and engages with the supervisor in a process of reflecting on and reviewing their work so that learning and growth can occur. The supervision process provides the supervisee with a safe place to reflect on their professional work and its impact on their personal and professional life. Supervision ensures that human services professionals remain accountable in relation to the legal, ethical, and professional issues that are relevant to their field of expertise. Supervision also ensures that the supervisee is equipped to provide the best possible service to their clients.

Professional supervisors at The Ezra Centre have experience in clinical and/or pastoral areas of practice and are accredited by their relevant professional association.
