Mixed Delivery in Semester 1 and 2 (a combination of online modules and a 3 day intensive)

This unit will prepare therapists to work within the field of mental health.

  • Explore factors involved in mental wellness and mental illness and the role of counselling practice in the field of mental health
  • Become familiar with mental health assessment tools and evidence based treatment interventions
  • Familiarise yourself with the terminology used when working within multidisciplinary teams in the mental health sector
  • Apply insights from neuroscience to the principles of mental health and the management of common mental health presentations

Andrea joined the faculty in 2021 and lectures in School Chaplaincy, Mental Health Management and Legal, Ethical and Cultural Issues.

In addition to lecturing, Andrea works as counsellor and neurofeedback clinician in private practice. Subsequent to working as a counsellor, she worked as a pastor and school chaplain.

Andrea is a graduate of Morling College. She lives in Newcastle with her husband Dean and they have three adult children. She is a member of Wallsend Baptist Church where her husband is the Senior Pastor.

People matter to God and He is always seeking to bring about the good that He desires for them. The good He desires is embedded in the message of the Gospel. As a lecturer it is a privilege to journey alongside others as they learn and discover more about God, themselves and others who cross their path, both personally and in a professional capacity.
